MAIN had the responsibility of implementing Community sensitization component of the project, ‘International Programme for the Elimination of Child Labour (ILO-IPEC)’ in Abeokuta, Ogun State and Ibadan, Oyo State – October/November 2012.

MAIN in partnership with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC Lagos) and West African Women Association (WAWA) in March 2015 organised ‘Mothers Speak’ which targets women a driving force to prevent violence during the 2015 general elections.

 

MAIN in partnership with UNIC Lagos and United Nations Association of Nigeria (UNAN) organised a briefing session and a workshop for journalists to mark the 2014 World Press Freedom Day.

 

MAIN in partnership with UNESCO and Department of Mass Communication, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, organised a capacity building workshop on “Investigative journalism for female student-journalists” to combat Newsroom stereotypes against women and encourage women to get interested in investigative beats. The training which was held in May 2013 in Abeokuta, had Eleven (11) Journalism training Institutions represented. These were the University of Lagos, University of Ibadan, Lagos State University, Covenant University, Ota; Babcock University, Ilisan; The Polytechnic, Ibadan; Caleb University, Lagos; Lagos State Polytechnic, Lagos; Redeemer’s University, Mowe; Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye and the host, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.

 

MAIN was a local implementing partner in the Global Forum for Partnerships on Media and Information Literacy (GFPMIL) Incorporating the International Conference on MIL and Intercultural Dialogue organised by the UNESCO Headquarters in collaboration with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), the government of Saudi Arabia and the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA). The International Conference was held in Abuja from 25 – 29 June, 2013.

 

 

Our Vision & Mission

Our Vision: To promote democratic governance and national development through sensitization and dissemination of information on freedom of expression and information; democratic process; media pluralism; media literacy and Communication for Development.


Our Mission: The Mission of Media Awareness and Information for All Network (MAIN) is to actively serve and support the media industry and Nigerians in hard-to-reach communities; bringing them life-changing information to improve their participation in the democratic process; enhance their quality of life and harness their creative potentials for national development.

Our Objectives

According to Article 3 of the Constitution of MAIN, our Aims and Objectives are:

> To strengthen media practice.

> To promote information literacy amongst media practitioners.

> Advance integration of women and youths in governance and national development.

> Disseminate information about electoral process, health, climate change, livelihood etc, to the masses, especially the disadvantaged ones in the hard to reach rural areas.

> Promote media pluralism through support for community radio in accordance with industry regulations.
